A Christmas Gift.

It was a brisk, freezing cold morning (literally!!) and we decided to embrace the day off work and brave the cold. It was $2 Holiday drinks at Caribou and a Ho Ho Mint Mocha and a Fa La Latte was going to be worth the frozen fingers. We had lots to be thankful for and lots to celebrate!!
We came home and continued the season cheer with decorating. Asher was loving touching (and eating) everything!
It was a regular day like any day and we were just celebrating our sweet, simple life with coffee and decorating.
And. . . we find out baby #2 is on the way.
Really?!?
We're seeing God blesses us abundantly but He isn't a magic genie. We ask for things but He isn't going to just point His finger and give us what we want. He gives us what we need and gives us our hearts desire when the timing is right. It never seems to be what we expect. . . . but if we let God be God in our lives then we'll see His unexpected abundant blessings.
My readers know our story, we live a simple life in an apartment on one income, we don't have much, but those unexpected abundant blessings for last year are this little guy and all the ways God provided. In the midst of having a new baby, we were able to pay off over $20,000 in debt. I am completely honest with the number because I want you, my friend, to see the seemingly impossible situation and the power of God's unexpected abundant blessings when we let God be God in our lives. Now let's add BABY #2 how in the world will we provide for another baby?

Yes! It is with great joy I announce we are blessed with baby #2.
In our human minds, we want education, houses, nicer cars, whatever that "thing" is first before we have kids. We can't comprehend how we will pay the bills or pay off debt or keep our jobs, but the beauty of God's unconditional grace and mercy is WE won't provide, but He will. It never is what I expect but God always know best. We're not rich by the world's standards but we are so abundantly blessed and God continues to provide.

The ironic part is we found out this news about baby right in the middle of this string of bitter cold days when Sam was out of work with no pay and my anxious heart went into overdrive wondering how we would provide for another baby. You tell me how in our human comprehension my life can be possible. Our debt is still not paid off, we still live in a very inconvenient apartment and drive simple cars and currently have one phone to share, we have the scary unknown of another baby and yet we are so happy and blessed. WE won't provide but God will, and that my beautiful friend, is what I cling to. He provides and He knows best. You might disagree or think you have plans you want to do first but all I have is my personal story and my story can only be explained with God. His ways are best.
Did I mention the red stroller above was free? I'm telling you. . .only God.

He's not a magic genie but HE does bless abundantly in unexpected ways.
He is the ONLY one we can cling to in uncertain times.
When our finances are shaky and our future is unknown.
God WILL provide.

We have been laying a foundation of prayer for this little one already for months and today we have a sense of wonder that God has answered those prayers in crazy, unexpected ways.

Coming July 2014.
We love you already little one.
You are our Christmas gift.

  1. Congratulations! I am so happy for you and your family. You are truly blessed. Praise God!
It is refreshing to read your blog and to see in words how I also feel. In our family we also live with what would normally would be considered little, but we are so blessed. I mean unbelievably blessed. Some days it is easy to lose focus and become dissatisfied with what He has provided. Thank you for this post that reminds me...He IS my Provider!
