Frazzled America.

I recently went to the movies with my husband and we got there early to people watch. I was blown away when this family of five just spent $42 on popcorn, sodas and nachos like it was no big thing, plus they spent $32.50 on tickets. It just makes no sense to me how Americans can spend so freely without any second thought.

I feel suffocated in the American culture. Frazzled. Disoriented. All around me people are living like zombies, spending money like water through my fingers, oblivious to the world around them. There are children in South Africa, India, Uganda who have nothing, babies being abandoned and left in the dirt to die, and here we are, us Americans, going on with our day, throwing money away at the movie theatre.

There are some mornings I wake up surrounded by my piles of makeup, jewelry, shoes, clothes and I just want to snap, I just want to pick it up and throw it out the window. I want to get rid of the THINGS THAT ARE EATING MY SOUL. Jesus grew angry when he went to the market and discovered they were selling their items on Sunday, their focus was on things not on people in need. They put their value in things not in Jesus. And Jesus grew angry, the Bible says, throwing the tables of merchandise aside.

I feel frazzled in this American culture. There’s something to DO everyday. My husband and I have different schedules and have to make time for each other each night. I’m getting pulled in eight different directions, I have to be here then there, then someone is calling me to ask a favor, then I have to get grocery shopping done and make dinner, and I don’t even have kids. The point to take away from this is NOT that I’m a poor girl who can’t handle her life and doesn’t even have kids yet, the POINT is this culture DEMANDS too much from us and it’s NOT MEANT to be that way. We are NOT meant to feel frazzled. That is satan’s tactic to keep us living like zombies.

I feel disoriented in this culture. I’ve seen the NEED in the world. I’ve seen the children who have NOTHING and the babies being abandoned. I want to scream at Americans and say WAKE UP THERE ARE BABIES DYING in other countries. The Bible says we are all to adopt ONE person, that doesn’t mean literally adopt a child and bring them to America, but it does mean OPEN YOUR EYES and see who is in need.

The thing is no one is awake in America. We all stay behind our closed doors, go to work and go back into hiding. We don’t look at each other in passing, we don’t share our deepest hurts, we don’t give anyone a chance to help us in our deepest need.

There are people like myself, at least I hope I’m not the only one, who want to help.

My fear is we are a people so POOR IN SPIRIT that we don’t know our OWN POVERTY.

Ladies of beauty…. Accessorize yourselves in SPIRITUAL WEALTH. Store up your treasures in heaven and don’t be concerned with the things of the world. Read your Bible, grow in knowledge and discover how you can reach those in poverty. What can you do in your community? Who needs to know the love of Jesus? Or does God want to send you to a place in the world where the name of Jesus has not been heard? Open your ears and listen to where God is leading you. Open your eyes and see those who don’t have hope. Everyone needs to know the hope that is Jesus before His second coming.

Reach your hand out to ONE person at a time.

This world is starving for hope of a better tomorrow. The American culture is withering away into nothing. I am being suffocated, the life is being sucked out of me by the American culture, and I am someone who is fighting back everyday. Just imagine what others are experiencing who DON’T have hope. I cling to the hope that is Jesus.

Come on Americans!! Wake up! How are people going to know about Jesus if we don’t go tell them? How can they believe in the one they have not heard? How can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who STEP OUT and bring good news!”
Romans 10:14-15

  1. Beautifully said my Dear:*) Thank you for sharing! I dont know what is is, but as people grow older, "things" become less important...at least for me they do...so dont wait to be "older" to appreciate the "little" things in life....a warm sunny day, birds singing, rain drops falling, a hug, a kiss, or just some "quality time" with the ones you love! Life is just a mist...so make the most of it now:*)
